I've been looking for sources of printable electronic star charts - there seem to be many different ones available, either as part of planetarium software or just plain charting packages. But there's such a richness of offerings that I'm having trouble figuring out which of those, if any, can produce printable charts in the format that I'm looking for. I like the general format of the Millennium Star Atlas - black stars on a white sky background, and with horizontal lines representing 1 degree of declination and vertical lines representing 4 minutes of RA (see sample page at ). I'd like to be able to specify a range of RA and declination and get that chart.

It gives us in detail the traits and features of people. For a observer of faint fuzzies and larger aperture may prefer Tri-Star Atlas C over this one, but it is a good alternative between Sky Atlas 200 and Tri-Star Atlas C. Under the DSO Guide on the website are many supporting file list and illustrated guides in PDF format.

Can anyone suggest any free star chart printing software that can print similar output for any desired sector of the sky? I'm looking at Cartes du Ciel () which might have that capability, but if so, I haven't yet figured out how to enable it.

It contains hints and tips on how to use a telescope and clear instructions on how to find about 100 night-sky objects. You can request this book from Moray Council Libraries. Cambridge University Press ISBN-10: ISBN-13: 9973 Exploring the Night Sky with Binoculars Sir Patrick Moore Many objects visible in binoculars are listed by constellation in this book. Strange as it may seem, it gives excellent guidance for finding objects for the first time with a small telescope. If you can see an object in binoculars, you should get a much better view through a telescope and with this book you can find the object through your binoculars first.

Some telescope retailers give this book away free when you buy a pair of binoculars.
